About the Florida Chapter

The Florida Chapter, the first state chapter of CHF, was founded in 2002. Inspired by her daughter’s struggle with CHD, the lack of research, and the prevalence of the disease, Ellen Weiss helped to form the Chapter with a dedicated group of Board members and volunteers. The Florida Chapter supports the mission of CHF through fundraising, awareness, and advocacy activities.

The Chapter’s signature events have included golf tournaments, casino nights, school based fundraisers, swim-a-thons, and Congenital Heart Walks. The Florida Junior Board, a group of high school leaders, supports the Chapter by spreading awareness and planning fundraising events. The Florida Chapter is grateful for its local Medical Advisory Board who provides guidance and an important link to patient families. Since its founding, the Florida Chapter has contributed more than $300,000 to CHF, funding the most promising congenital heart defect research worldwide.
